Leading by Giving Back: GAW’s Story

Mar 27th 2024

GAW Technology, a certified woman-owned business continues to showcase its unique leadership by excelling in business and supporting the community.

Under the leadership of Founder Kathy Gaw-Betz, GAW Technology was the main sponsor for Women Strike It Strong, a charitable event where women of all ages learned self-defense basics from a martial arts specialist while also raising money for the Center for Family Services, a South Jersey-based charity that helps women get back on their feet.

“As a lifelong advocate of local charities and non-profits, Gaw Technology continues to support fundraising and volunteer projects that make a difference in the communities where we live and work. Giving back is important to all of us.” Kathy said.

Kathy and the company she founded 35 years ago is a shining example of what a Harvard Business Review study revealed in 2020. The study concluded that women leaders contribute to creating healthy workplace cultures. It also showed that employees enjoy working in such organizations due to their purpose-driven nature and commitment to equal pay and childcare support.

Kathy continues to support the NJ Tech Council and the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). Mission Critical Magazine named her, “Top Woman in Technology.” She was also named a “Woman to Watch” by South Jersey Biz magazine last year.

In her personal time, Kathy volunteers at her church’s bereavement group and at Cathedral Kitchen in Camden, NJ.

She does all this while ensuring her company remains a leader in the datacenter industry with expert design and consulting, innovative product development, top-notch quality, and strong customer service.

“No matter the level of success in business, it’s important to always find ways to give back and make a difference. Set the example then pass these values on to the next generation of leaders in your organization – both men and women.” she said.
